Check Mate
Return to me salvation
As the blood pours down the mirror,
Forming the lies you’ve been whispering in my ear.
You’ve known all along
That nothing ever happened
Because you were the one who started it all.
It spread like wildfire
That you never wanted to end.
You loved the attention
You were the center of everything.
Your presence is haunting me,
The pain is drawing me closer
There is nothing inside
I lay empty.
Your sinister smirk,
Your laughter,
My innocence is what you stole.
My reflection was a ghost.
My soul was a withered rose.
Return me to life,
Leave me unscathed
As I swallow the pills to push you away
But you returned every time.
My chastity slipped away as though sand in the wind.
My pain is hot coals, searing my flesh.
I’m pouring crimson
I lay in flames.
With a glint in your eye,
You drew the knife
Drawing intricate patterns
Like a foreign language.
Your tongue darted out
To catch the tears
As I stumbled over my screams.
I caught your imperfections and you sold mine.
I held your hand and you burned it.
I chased your repentance away and you stole mine.
I’ve been alone all along.
You held me for ransom
And I was nothing but your toy.
Don’t try to fix me,
For I am far from broken.
You were the fire
And I was your martyr.
Your regret was open palms
Empty without a second thought.
You presence was nothing but poison.
Return me to salvation
While my life flickers like fire
Forever I would remain silent.
You knew this was war.
And you played it like a chess match.
And you were the one to make the last move.
And in the end you finished it off
With the devil inside
And in my ear you whispered
