I could feel sadness creeping into the depths of my heart
As I leave behind the familiarity of my friends and kin

Although small is the distance that keeps us apart

I continue to feel a shiver slide up the surface of my skin

As I travel my heart will continue to beat true
And remind me of the love I have left behind
For surely my family will not forget and leave me to rue

What I could have become had I stayed and been kind

Laughter, love and luck are the words that come to mind

As well as the voices of the ones who remained faithful
As I embark on this journey leaving everyone behind
I feel the need for a greater meaning one that is meaningful

I know that I have not done my share, my part
The earth is dug up and my body tossed in
I could feel sadness creeping into the depths of my heart
As I leave behind the familiarity of my friends and kin
