Oh, fallacy! Great fallacy!
How horrid a soul was I!
How could I turn from Christ, yet turn to pills—
And turn from love, yet turn to vice?

Oh, fallacy! Great fallacy!
How can I gain reprieve?
Nineteen years hard labor
Can’t expunge my evil deeds!

Oh, clemency! Sweet clemency!
Before the Lord I stand in awe!
Before he who saved my wretched soul,
And snatched me out of Satan’s jaws.

Oh, clemency! Sweet clemency!
Satan has prepared a feast!
But I won’t attend, my soul lives on—
I do not need a priest!

The author's comments:
This is mainly about my escape from an addiction to pills, but more broadly, it is about anyone turning away from sin and back to God. Some allusions: "19 years hard labor" is a reference to Jean Valjean, who was an inspiring figure during my struggle. "I do not need a priest" is a reference to my Roman Catholic faith, where the dying often summon a priest. I hope you like it!

I really like the idea of satans jaws its a good title. And the rythm and stuff is really good. And the exclamation marks are in the right places, I don't use them very often so its cool to see them used. I like the last line, it stays in your head for a minute.
