Blue Iris
She dares to peek.
Viney, rough skin
reaches up.
Soft lilac face
unveiled in spider webs.
So long hidden in snow,
in brisk barren air,
afraid to fly.
Morning dew lick
auburn lashes,
awakening her fogged up dream.
Eyes startle open.
Golden, half moon slivers
like a sun breaking free
from bounds of night.
A butterfly opens her wings.
