Death
The day was long,
The nights were cold.
The man was once young,
But now he is old.
The rain would be soft,
The lilies were closed.
Death was upon him,
But he couldn’t, just NO!
He was lying on his death bed,
His family all gone.
He thought ‘My kids and my wife’
He knew he’d out live them, he knew all along.
His time running out,
He said ‘Just one more thing’
He went to the grave yard and lay down beside,
His wife and his kids. Now he could die.
The clock ticked by slowly,
The time slipping by.
He wanted to join them,
He just wanted to die.
He lay there for days,
And at night he would cry.
‘Why can’t I just join them,
Please, why oh why?’
He’d had enough,
Put a gun to his head
He pulled the trigger and cried out
‘Now I too can be dead.’
