the other side
The Beauty
It sends The beckoning glances,
I look away
for I am afraid
of what is on the other side.
If I travel
Too far
From what I know
And who I am
I will drown
in those raging rapids
And then who would I BE?
Nobody sees me anymore.
They saw me hesitate
and stopped asking.
They frolic on the other side
Finding who they are.
I watch the river
and the minnows
At peace where they are.
And I think,
I know who I am.
I'm me
But seeing the stepping stones,
All across
the glistening blue water,
I wonder
Who am I really?
And I step
on the first stone to the path
And start toward the other side
