Deception
In the light an angel stood;
Hand extended,
Smile kind.
But then the light faded into darkness,
The joyful chimes
To evil laughter.
Pure white robes were cast aside,
To reveal ash and flame,
And no longer an angel stood,
A devil in its place,
To deceive me and drag me down
To its fiery abode.
I cast the dice,
Rolled them with the devil—
A demon in disguise—
But a demon no less,
And now in my own private Hell
I reside,
Pacing and praying,
Searching for a ladder of light
To lead me from this gloom.
In the dark a devil stood.
