You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.

Beauty
An evanescent indulgence

Manifesting naturally

effortlessly

For too few

Beauty
Smothered with pale powder

bloody lips

and black eyes

For too many

Contempt ensues
Jealousy arises

And the beast emerges

Mirror, mirror on the wall
Who’s the fairest one of all?

The beast damages the mind

quells the confidence

and agonizes the body

The Beast is not Beauty
Beauty is the Beast

On more than one occasion, I'll wake up in the morning, look at my face, and think to myself how dry or oily or dull my face appears. When I go to put on foundation, my brother will say I look like a ghost. When I go to put on lip gloss or eyeliner, my dad will say my lips are too red or my eyes too dark. After a while, I started to wonder why I even tried. One morning I realized that I don't need to makeup to make me beautiful, I only need makeup to add to the beauty inside me. Wearing makeup doesn't make you fake, but too much makeup can make a beast, literally and figuratively. Makeup should add to the bundle of confidence that's already inside of you. Makeup doesn't make you pretty, it's the confidence that does.
