The world says it's impossible, God says it's possible

Oh ‘tis of thee unfair history, do you remember me like I remember thee. I’m the hurting black girl who Couldn’t say a word in this terrible world. I’m the little black boy who lost all joy. I’m the little black boy Who lost all joy. I’m the mother of many kids who’s cryin’ deep within. I’m the father who weeped in the Midnight hour like a broken water tower. I was afraid to be a coward. I had to man up in front of my Family do I had to act like this pain couldn’t handle me, but really these racist acts took advantage of me And I began to mope because I started losing all hope. Now this unfair history, it’s a mystery if you don’t remember me. I’m talkin’ slavery, it ain’t even clear to me why you would steer near me to fear me. Now Are you hearin’ me? My worth was not equivalent to a chandelier, sometimes I wish I can stand up to you Like a deer without a fear, or like a man with a spear but instead of me trying to persevere I disappear Never hoping to reappear into this atmosphere. Unfair history now just listen to me and see the person You’ve created in me. You’ve created many generations from every nation and that’s somethin’ I’m not Mistakin’. You’ve created the rise up and be great generation, the I have a dream generation, and most Importantly the I am black and I am somebody generation. You created the first black president. You Created me and I indeed have a dream that I will achiece. I’m going to make history regardless of how People will see me, but put me in the history making category just like Obama and that’s on my momma. I’m not on this earth to cause drama but here’s where we put the comma and pause for the cause because Unfair history you lost. Unfair history you don’t even know what you did to me. You created a dream Machine who with the help of God won’t back down, won’t trip if I’m clowned, but I will always Remember to stand firm on the ground and remember that I am brown. Now, unfair history, you created An entertainment genious who is ready to take over Hollywood now can you believe this! With the Memories of my ancestors long nights picking cotton unfair history you will never be forgotten. You Created black history, you created me, and making more history, making good, fair history is indeed what I’m here to do. And this unfair history is no longer a mystery because God told me who I’m going to be. I Am black history.

This poem was written after I saw the movie, The Butler, today. After the movie I felt so much hurt and pain that I began to write how African American people felt back then to all the things we have accomplished and still are accomplishing now. I want people to get out of this poem that there is hope and you just have to seek God to find that hope and that we, African Americans can make it.
