True Beauty
What is true beauty?
I prompted one day.
Is it simply a mask?
One that cannot stay?
Does it lie on the outside,
On display for all to see?
Or is beauty something more,
Something inside of me.
Is it the rouge of the lips,
Or the words that they speak?
Do they help and encourage?
The mild and the meek?
Is it the softness of the hands,
Or the help they bring to others?
Do they reach to assist
Our sisters and our brothers?
Where does true beauty lie?
I prompted one day.
Surely not in the eye,
But in the things that we say.
