The Wishing Well
wishing well lover who had fallen away -
what you thought you wanted was just a dark, empty space.
a dreamer who believed in a cure for all the coins wasted,
a lover who seemed so true, so untainted.
gritty little stones lining the well, but you were blind;
you dreamed of love, you believed in time.
childhood fantasy, little girl wish -
after all those days of stolen coins from that dish.
standing there now in your torn little dress,
outgrown, unwanted, passing at best;
you don't know what you need,
but you still feel free;
fly away, sweet dreamer.
welcome home, disbelief.
