You See Boy
I know our situation is crazy.
And I know you don't want to hear it.
I know you see the way I look at you
But, you see boy,
You don't want to see it.
You don't want to admit
That the words we said,
I meant it,
But you didn't.
You see boy,
When I said I loved you
I expected you to pull through.
Not leave me feeling blue.
And I know you didn't mean to,
But I wanted to be your beau,
But you didn't.
You see boy,
My love for you
Is truer than true.
It's world-consuming,
Butterfly-inducing,
I can feel it blooming,
But I fear it's dooming
And heartbreak is looming
Because you're assuming
We can be just friends.
But you see boy,
How can I be friends with the perfect boy?
How can I know you
And see you
And trust you
And feel you
But not love you?
But I'll try.
Because, you see boy,
I know you don't feel the same way.
And so I'll try
Even though I know we could fly,
And touch the sky
Me and you, you and I.
So now I'll sigh,
And try not to cry
As you say goodbye
Without looking in my eye.
Because you know,
You know what you'll see,
And you don't want to see it.
So I'll stand by your side
Trying to hide
What I feel inside.
But we both know
It's just a show,
And I'm feeling lower than low
As you smile at her,
How I wish you smiled at me.
Because you see boy,
I wanted to be your joy
But, I realize now I'm just your toy,
And here she comes all cute and coy.
She's your joy.
She's your joy.
And you are mine.
