Funeral Service
Tear brimmed eyes look forward
As to not see loved ones crying.
Organ music plays sad ominous tones,
People file in and take seats next to strangers
The vaulted ceiling hangs above us.
Four caskets line the front isle.
Jeana, Jen, Jess, David.
Sniffles echo accompanied by coughs and deep breaths.
People, all ages alike gather here.
We mourn and grieve over the four lost.
Lost on June 11th, 2013.
"Picture them sleeping," everyone says.
But they're not. Not sleeping.
Jumbled voices clash when singing "Amazing Grace"
The pastor's words cut the silent air.
Open windows show the trees rustling in the morning breeze.
Everyone stands as we pray,
People mummer "Amen"
Heads bowed, everyone shuffles out.
Tear brimmed eyes look down,
As to not see loved ones cry.
