I stumble

Slowly I stumble up
The staircase
I fall a step back
Only to stumble two steps forward
The bottle in my hand
I take a sip
It's empty
I throw it over the railing
Crash!
Against the floor
It doesn't phase me as I try to make it to bed
It's been a long day
This has been a terrible day
When I see her
I don't know what I will do
For the day I see her
May be everyone's last
I stumble up the stairs
Only to fall back
And take two steps forward
I collapse
At the top of the stairs
And the first time today
I am at peace
