Untitled
Green leaves rustle
In the light summer breeze
As the sun
Gently kisses them.
Day after day after day
They cast ripples,
Like water,
Onto the ground.
Day after day after day
You hide under these leaves
To escape the sun
Which burns your skin.
Day after day after day
The date moves by 1
And summer, slowly,
Drifts past.
And now it is autumn
The sun no longer kisses these leaves;
It no longer lingers
Between these branches.
It just dries them out,
And they fall to the ground,
So lifeless
And drained.
You no longer hide
Under these leaves
To escape the sun's heat.
For the leaves are not there;
They're under your feet.
