Abandoned Teachings
the guilt at her pity
the guilt at her shame
the guilt at what she’s done
and there’s only herself to blame
her anger and resentment
have been bubbling far too long
attempts to tame her emotions
lead to thoughts of herself being wrong
“you’ll just have to accept it”
a phrase she’s been taught never to say
so she knows being strong isn’t that
and even such thoughts are not okay
she knows she needs help
she’s desperate to be supported
she goes the way she knows best
only to discover her search’s been thwarted
surprise turns to shock
suddenly this thinking is fine?
all distorted by a mutual first teacher
whose apparently drawn a line
“you two have to work it out”
she knows that means alone
two means to combine their efforts
but the second pupil supposedly sits on a throne
she’s beginning to doubt her values
her lessons have turned upside-down
for now its okay to condone wrong doings?
because, if it is so, equality will drown...
