3 A.M.
Alone in a black pit of night
No one, nothing, at all in sight
Darkness grows like weeds in grass
Creeping near like raccoons toward trash
Sleep is all I seek in these hours
These hours were a monster devours
Devours all those like me
Who stay up until dawn they see
But it is at this time
When we let our deepest thoughts rise and shine
Along with the sun I guess it seems
Is when we have our night time dreams
Thoughts run endlessly wild
Like a playing child
They can't be controlled
But in them they hold
Brilliant ideas to be heard
Ones that soar like a bird
So maybe it's good that
We stay awake for our dreams
To run and break free
To burst though the seams
