In Your Hands
There comes a time to everyone when they know not what to say,
For me, in truth and bewilderment, that time is come today,
But please, I beg you, please give me a moment,
My words are on the way.
I've tried so hard, for so very long, to know what tribute could be paid,
To one such as you, by one such as I, but some multiversal, omnipresent, deity of the fray,
Has closed my soul and stilled my breath, and no words will come today,
Please, I beg you, please, be patient, my words are down the way.
But perhaps I am wrong, and always I was, an accidental lie I've made,
Please forgive me, please forget, please grant me a second chance,
I think I know now, I think I grasp,
Why my words have gone away.
You've stolen my breath, captured my thoughts, and held my passions at bay,
But, in this, I find no offense, I'd give them all to you anyway,
The reason my words never came is that they were already here, in an unexpected place,
My words, sweet words, I have found at last, are in your hands, and that's where I hope they'll stay.
