A Different Path
They would have me toil as a peasant tills the earth,
As a mother bathes her children,
As a servant tends the hearth,
To add my contribution to five-hundred thousand years,
Of building up and tearing down,
Of laughing, shouting, weeping, lamenting, sobbing boiling tears,
But I can see a different path, that they can never grasp,
One of power, one of greatness, one of purer heart
One they will never come to accept, one in a race apart.
