You are broken
And I cannot fix that.
No matter how many
Times you smile at me,
Pleading for a love
That I can’t give.
I will not save you.
I cannot make you whole.
I won’t put back together
The pieces of your heart
That were broken by living.
I live in this world too.
I will not be there for you.
I won’t give birth to another
Promise that will die before
It reaches the end of my lips.
