Thomas was a little boy, a crazy boy, a naughty boy
But little Thomas had a dream, a dream to be a musician.
One night he sat up late in bed and suddenly a noise filled his head,
‘Ratta-tat-tat Ratta-tat-tat’, “what was that!?” “who is THAT!?”
He ran to his mother, to kneel on her bed
“I’m sure, I’m sure, I’m sure” he said, “there’s a little person drumming by my bed!”
“Oh Tom” said his mother, “Goodnight” said his father
And little Thomas sulked and slumped back in to bed.

Thomas was a funny boy, an interesting boy, an ambitious boy
And little Thomas had a dream, a dream to be a musician.
The next night he sat up late in bed and suddenly a loud ‘THUMP’ made him jump!
‘BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM!’ “ahhh” he screamed, the noise filling his bedroom.
He ran to his mother, to hide in her bed
“I Know, I know, I know” he said, “There’s a little person drumming loudly! It’s not just in my head!”
“Nonsense” said his father, “Get some sleep” said his mother
So little Thomas sulked and slumped back into bed.

Thomas was a curious boy, an intelligent boy, a talented boy
And little Thomas had a dream, a dream to be a musician.
Tonight he tried to forget, have a sleep and rest his head, but suddenly
‘Ting-Ting-Tingaling’ rang through his ear, like a bell, he was sure he could hear!
He ran to his mother, to sit by her bed
“It must, it must be true” he said, “There’s a little person playing a cymbal, ringing around my head!”
“Right that’s it” shouted his mother, “be quiet” groaned his father
And she took little Thomas and tucked him into bed.

This night Thomas set a trap! He wanted to catch this little chap
But this night, he was too tired, and had to take a little nap
And through his head all the little drummers came,
‘Ratta-tat-tat’ ‘BOOM-BOOM’ ‘Tingaling’
But he saw that the face upon each little drummer was him!
He woke up with a jump and ran to dance around his parents’ bed
‘I want to be a drummer’ over and over he proudly said
So, the next day, they bought him a drum set of crimson and gold
And now he is the best drummer, the best drummer in the world.

Hi, I'm Kirsty..
I don't write much, and don't pretend to be any kind of an expert at it, but i really enjoy it and love to read poetry.
I wrote this poem to show that the dreams that anyone has can come true if you believe enough that you can fulfill them and have confidence in yourself.
This really 'Hits home' with me as my dream is to be a singer and I know that I must really believe in myself enough in order to achieve my ambition.
I hope you enjoy my little witty poem about this young boy; the best drummer in the world.
