Mirrors and Hourglasses
Mirrors upon your face only show you what you want to see.
One-sided, inflexible, and stubborn
are those mirrors judging me with every glance and glare.
The twin mirrors cooperate smoothly,
pulling you into their grasp and never letting go.
Hard as stone do they become
as they are questioned with defiance.
Though your mirrors of glass and stone stand tall,
the error of your ways become clear
to all of those who see
the dust and prints evolving on your surface.
We see your errors
and have molded our mirrors into hourglasses.
Rounded with an infinitely open mind,
hourglasses connect with you
and help you mold your own.
Forever changing and kind,
we do not judge those who stare
at our translucent skin.
Mirrors will forever be disgusted
at their on-growing age,
while hourglasses greet time
like an old friend.
But I am not boasting
or claiming that hourglasses are better than mirrors
for we have our faults too.
