Belong
I press my face
Against the window.
My heart in a chase
As I hear your voice echo.
The days go by
And you linger in my head.
I do know why,
But it has never been said.
You had things to say,
But not a word did you utter.
I heard a different way,
Not from you, but from another.
In the end
it was finally said,
First from a friend,
Then from you instead.
You told me you love me,
I thought it was true.
Then I said with glee
I love you, too.
From that day on,
We drifted apart.
Did I do something wrong
Or too soon offered my heart?
What happened to when
You were so near?
When you held my hand,
As if you loved me dear.
Many a night
I lie awake in my bed,
And question with fright,
Did you mean what you said?
So here I sit,
Being foolish and moping.
Though I do admit,
I am dreaming and hoping.
Now what do I do?
Should I continue to wait?
I'll always be here for you,
But don't ask me too late.
Through months and days
And changes of seasons
My heart with you it stays;
I do have my reasons.
Handle it with care,
Though it is strong
And all its love I will share;
To you, I'll belong.
