Pressed into my palm before he left,
it now slips through the fingers.
In mirage for a second still
suspended in air, it shines a watery gold in the light
then silently falling into the cerulean deep,
swept away as I am reaching
too late the fingers extend to grasp
in vain, only longing
as it is carried away.
Overwhelmed in the agony of waves,
a golden entity lurching in reckless waters, defying fate
almost dancing,
until it ceases to exist.
Slowly its glow vanishes, its form fades,
receding into bottomless depths
drifting downwards, a passion unbroken yet
lost forever, everywhere
except in the darkness of one heart.
