the recesses of dreams, imagination;
but you'll never be consumed anymore
by that sunkissed summer glow
the heat radiating and dying on my yellow tinted skin
a flame arose in the center of the moment
the expanding light collapsing in on itself
in the midst of carpeted flooring
of a four poster bed
conversation grew increasingly stilted
the words that were said
that stuck to the bridge of my mouth
and scorched my trenchant tongue
those words were dismissed so easily
in the wake of the sky burning stormcast grey
in the throes of insanity
a cloak you wore with confidence
a gleaming cape
you hid behind glossy magazines
and haute couture
sponsoring skinny hipster jeans
and an indifferent attitude to boot
your confidence was so sure
I stand to reason
you never knew
and will never know me
anymore
