The Old Cottage
Welcome, dearest friends,
Please, make yourselves at home.
I see your Audi, how cute,
It will match this tea cozy so well,
And this quaint old porch chair
Could use the jazz of disel smoke.
Are you hungry? Here, I have just the thing--
Feast yourselves on these fleshy memories,
Taste the old camaraderie crunch under your teeth--
Satisfied?
Here, let me show you around.
This was my childhood--
If you don't like the wallpaper,
You can burn it and throw the ashes away.
And this was my puppy--
By all means, put in a swimming pool,
Put the dirt in the dump,
Then he can rest in peace with the bulldozers.
My dad planted this apricot tree,
It was my sister's birthday,
But I know those winter nights can be cold,
And I really do want you to be warm.
Are you thirsty? the best beverage, here you are,
Would you like ice in your cup of tears?
My mother's, you know, on my father's deathbed...
Yes, I've been saving them for a special occasion,
mixed with a little bitter grief for flavor.
Thank you, I hope you enjoyed ripping apart my past!
Come back soon, and pay me for them.
After all, they're only memories to burn,
And Hell would take them if you weren't here,
Replacing them with shiny concrete.
