The flames of my torch reflected off the walls
From the water that flows through the tunnels.
This one had recently been backed up which was the reason I was sent,
To bring life back to the dark.

The sounds of my footsteps echoed in the hall
Reminding me of how lonely the dark can be
Suddenly I saw a burst of movement causing me to halt,
Sending my last steps to linger, then fade.

The darkness consumed me, darkness was taking over
And the walls around me began to close in.
My body quivered to the beat of life but the maddening dark took hold.
The cement crept up and devoured my legs.

A surge of panic washed over me as I struggled to break out
But the darkness only tightened its grip.
My lungs filled up as I tried to call out, the dark rushing inward,
And all hope was lost.

But as a last ditch effort my mind took over, causing me to wave my torch,
The light banished the dark and freed me from the grip
Allowing me to leave the dark forever,
Bringing life back into the dark.
