Waiting Room
Sitting patently
Awaiting the operation
I gaze silently at the people
Who twitch and flinch
At mundane looking things.
I look left, than right
And see the reflected light of a ring
From a shaking hand
Flashing in the light.
My name is called
And I look to my spouse
Her lips tremble in a
Attempted smile
I stand slowly and walk to the doors
I look back at my wife
As she shakes with renewed sobs
And I step through the doors
Not knowing if I will
Come back
