Education is an admirable thing, but it is well to remember from time to time that nothing that is worth knowing can be taught (Oscar Wilde)

Inwardly do humans bruise, when one
Attacks with words. The evidence of assault,
Invisible to the naked eye, causes the bruise
to swell up and grow
Like cancer.

Soon the bruise, the pain becomes a part of you.
The ever growing ache of life.

Your fatal punch to my heart.

The author's comments:
I was inspired to write this piece after one day, when everyone I knew was assaulting me with words - harsh words. It was on that particular day I really took this personally and rather than getting upset, I got angry. And so, I decided to convey those emotions in a short poem as I intuitively knew that was the only way I could let my emotions out without hurting or offending anyone else. I wasn't going to let this cycle of hate continue.

I hope that all the readers will be able to empathize with this piece through its abstract nature. I hope that this piece is able to convey the fury and anger that one feels when bruised by words.
