Treading Paths
You follow me in my steps and my mind.
Moments spent forcing memories out
Only engrain them deeper still,
To live with the past and not quite
Understand where the future will take us.
Over thousands of miles, your feet still
Trail mine, and I wish to carve a path
Of my own.
But when your route takes a sharp turn,
I lose sight of where I'm going, and
Question the overlap of our lives.
Side by side our paths may tread
In pursuits of contentment
With destinations of their own.
