Someone told me that
Since I do not understand
The minds of those who self harm
I could not help them
And so I began exploring
And getting to know those broken
So I could help them to smile again
But then I became one of them
Because after all...
It takes one to know one
And now I am one

I did actually have several friends tell me this. I am not yet at the point where I am one, and hopefully I will never get to that point. Brokenness is more than a physical condition, it is a mindset.
