Clocks
There is a day
That everyone knows
No one lives forever
You have to die someday
But don’t make it today
You watch your friends feel happy
When all you can feel is the sadness of what they don’t know
No one sees the scars
Nor the messages that caused them
No one sees the bruises
And the hands that cause them
And yet
You keep on smiling
And laughing
And acting as if it never happened
As if it never will
As if the scars
The bruises
The burns
The sorrow
Never existed
No one knows that the clock is ticking
Counting each second until you die
No one knows the pain in your heart
They never ask what’s wrong
And the clocks are ticking
And ticking
And ticking
The noise filling your entire being
Until you can’t take it anymore
The ticks are deafening
And you beg for it to stop
With the ticking comes other noise
Other clatter in your mind
No one hears the voices that take you over
That hold you down
And the clock keeps ticking
Your head is spinning
As the rope pulls taut
And you take one last shuddering breath
And cry out in glee as the clock stops ticking
And your pain fades in your final breath

I wrote it for a friend of mine a year back and it helped him out when his best friend killed himself
