To You
Your pain might not
Have been mine,
But pain hurts,
And I have plenty of hurt
To go around,
So maybe you and I
Could have sat down
And talked it out.
Maybe we could have worked
Through the pain together,
And then maybe you wouldn't
Have felt so alone--
Alone in a place that you
Couldn't call home.
At least,
That's what they told me,
But I don't know for sure.
All I know is that you're gone.
And even though we weren't that close,
What I wish for the most
Is to go back in time,
Get to know you well,
Be your friend, so that when you fell,
I'd be there to hold your hand,
Get you up and help you stand,
Save you from that twisted fate
In which you had to leave this place.
