Dreaming
Sick to his stomach, a man sits in his kitchen
Eating Raisin Bran out of the box with a ladle
The phone rings - it’s his boss
Wondering whether Dracula has left any messages for him
The man croaks into the mouthpiece
Looking down, he finds he has transformed into a frog
Curious, indeed
He hops outside and finds that the sky has been set ablaze by meteor showers
Chunks of stars crash to earth around him as he makes his way to the corner
Women with the heads of wolves prowl, but they don’t notice the frog man in their midst
He hops into a coffee shop with no roof and no walls
(but he knows it’s a coffee shop - he’s been here before
he just can’t remember when)
He sits at a table and counts his fingers
(He is once again a human being)
And waits for service
But a hooded executioner enters, beckoning with a meaty hand
Wielding an axe resting gently on his right shoulder
The man tries to run, but he sees the axe coming at his head and
ring
The clock reads 6:20
And he smacks it, silencing its shrill alarm
He feels sick to his stomach
And goes downstairs to his kitchen
Where he eats Raisin Bran out of the box with a ladle
The phone rings
