The little girl at home
Curled up in the dark all alone
She turns on the TV
And can you guess what she sees?
Every day she feels she can never eat
Just so she can be skinny like the girls on MTV
She throws out her dark clothes; that makes her Goth
Boys don’t like Goth girls; they want s****
S**** who can’t tell left from right
Up from down, she’s losing sight
She can’t see anything—there’s too much smoke
Just one hit, just one try, just one little toke
It’s no big deal—after all it’s her life, right?
Never mind if she’s falling, headed for that bright light
Die young. Leave a pretty corpse
She could get her phone taken up; that’d be even worse
Because all anyone really cares about is free Wi-Fi, after all
Craving the very thing that’s
Ruining, manipulating, and destroying their little brains
Well, what’s left of it, really
Why worry about your insides when the outside’s all that matters?
Wear this, and have that
How about a little slack?
She just needs some air to breathe
Room to breathe, from those ridiculously tight clothes
Don’t just cut it shorter
Oh. That’s what they want?
Fine, then. If it’s on the magazines,
Why not? Everyone does it
Starting from the age of ten
No one can ever mend
What we’ve been doing to ourselves
