The Tear
Desolation unknown to the lover’s eye
Was untold to these two of different stories
Until the moment arose to bring chaos to her heart
And he crumbled in disappointment understood
Before their hearts ever knew the others touch
Or their hands clasped together boldly
Former to the giggling glances or soft smiles
Before the present came to pass, the sweet nicknames
A glimmer of interest glowed between them
And grew and grew, light to a unawake path
Barren to the outside eye and wonderland to the lovers
Ever so slowly following the glimmer of one small candle
With this they trailed the way and boldness grew
They took this candle, this light, the very dim sight
To be so sure and eternity driven for every step of the way
But little did they know it would soon blow out
And when this candle blew out, chaos bewitched her
And she sank into the present with damp drops of tears
Splashing, crashing, breaking against the fertile ground
Tears of pain, tears of shock that would reap for after
The boy shook with disappointment and heard her cries
The darkness eluded his surroundings and senses
Except for the sharp sobs of the weeping girl of chaos
Slowly he lowered himself to find this lonely girl he knew
If love be so strong he knew it had trained his senses
And this he knew, for when he set his mind to commit to find
His heart leapt forward to find the girl of tears
Over the roots and black ground, no moon for sympathy
A squeal, a sharp gasp was all it took for her presence to be known
A warm touch, a skipping of a beat and their hearts knew
Together they had each other and apart they were one
But when the chaos had only been softened, a glisten shimmered
The boy so daring to be more than a companion in the dark
Reached forward to touch the shiny glimmer of hope
Warmth sprinkled his body like cold rain on a stormy afternoon
And then he did realize, the glimmer was a tear
The tear reflected the moon before splattering onto his palm
The warmth of the tear giving him strength and hope
And with one swift movement he stood
And with another, she was in his arms snuggled up warmly
He never wanted to let her go: the creatures of the forest were nearby
He wrapped her in his warmth and strode through the forest
Caution and courage collided in his mind creating chaos
But this did not slow his quest for her safety
On and on the boy traveled, the girl safely stored cargo
He would never let her fall again, not when he was alive
And with every breath the girl took, every pounding heartbeat from her,
A little courage, a little strength, and a little love filled the boy.
And when dawn came over the horizon
It shone its radiant rays onto a home made of natures’ art
From every creatures forte, and every beings cliché,
They lived together through day and night,
The Tear stored safely in the heart of the man for might.
