Beautiful
Some people are beautiful
Because their faces evoke Greek gods,
Craggy landscapes,
James Dean.
They shine, golden.
Lightning-white teeth crack open those flawless faces
In carelessly handsome smiles,
Which drill you into the ground with your own insecurity.
Other people are beautiful
Because their faces are
Happy.
They have happy faces.
Faces like hot chocolate, warm hugs,
A dog’s who has (everyday) waited an eternity
For you (and only you) to come home.
The best faces don’t belong in movies
Or on statues.
They’d never launch a thousand ships.
Those faces have dancing eyes that smile always,
And make me smile also.
