People
People are crummy.
And scummy.
They promise, prod, and pressure you.
They lie, love, and lecture you.
They’re prettier than you, and skinnier, and
Sure you get better grades, but
They’re better at other people.
Which is more important in the end.
You don’t know what people want from you,
As they scrabble at your shirtsleeves with
Luminous eyes
(Lashes longer and blacker than yours).
You angrily shake them off, cursing, but
Then your arms are cold, and
You wish they’d come back.
