Notes on Notes
Less than a pound, feather on your shoulder,
the zero gravity feeling of weightlessness.
Every component, every expertly carved piece of oak,
shaped into a masterpiece.
Sleek, 3 foot bow equipped with silky horse hair,
gliding like a car on black ice,
across steel core strings.
With every first stroke of the bow, lightening strikes.
with every increasing octave,
another angel enters heaven.
As the humble pitch gets higher and higher,
the ringing in your ears,
gets utterly irresistible.
The melody fluctuates in your head,
like a blissful, cherished memory.
something so elegant,
serenading your ear drums.
Vibrations bouncing off the walls,
your body’s core,
is lavished in the rhythm of music.
A miraculous, delicate instrument,
with a heart racing impact.
The familiar tune of Beethoven’s 7th symphony,
echoes from your fiddling frenzy.
Fingers tip toeing up and down.
Arthritis creeps its way,
into your fragile hands,
and kicks into over drive.
These powerful, little things we call
Notes.
Endless notes on staff, lined paper.
Note after note, flat notes, sharp notes, half notes, whole notes, quarter notes,on a wonderful instrument.
