Silence

Silence, nothing to hear
No matter how close or far
Not even if it is shouted
No matter who it is spoken by

I see the mouths move
But cannot hear a voice.
I see smiling faces on bodies rocking back and forth,
But cannot hear the laughter.

I see tears slowly dribble down one’s face
But cannot hear the weeping
I feel the vibrations
But cannot hear the beat of the music

I see the love and peace in faces
But cannot hear the loving and soothing voices of beloved ones
I see the man behind the microphone
But cannot hear my name being announced

I see mouths wide open, and startled reactions of people around them
But cannot hear the screaming
I see waves; crashing forward, then retreating
But cannot hear the ocean

I see the leaves moving and trees swaying
But cannot hear the wind whistling through the leaves on the trees
I see the changes in the seasons
But cannot hear the sounds the changes bring

My world is filled with sights and vibrations
Others think I’m missing out on the sounds
But I can hear one sound very well.
People find embarrassment by it
They call it awkward after only a few seconds of experiencing it
The only sound that is perfect and golden-silence
