can't you
Can’t you see the
golden sunset past
the lights and numerals
on the screen?
Can’t you hear the
bird’s morning song
over the deafening
sound of music,blaring
from those ear buds?
Can’t you feel the
gusts of wind ruffle
your hair under the mass of chemicals and sprays?
Can’t you see the words
on the pages those devoted
men and women put there
for you past the colors
and sounds of your television?
Can’t you taste the delicious fruit that God put on
this earth for you,
past the salty soggy
stuff you call a meal?
Can’t you smell the
pine and maple over
the intoxicating gas
we put in our atmosphere?
Can’t you feel the
love of your parents
over the love of the
one you call your
boyfriend?
