Grandma's House
My favorite place as a child.
The adrenalin rush of finding your way out.
The bunnies that got away from us seem to reappear.
The gnomes still look the same.
I realize Grandma's hasn't changed.
The smell of cookies linger from the kitchen.
The make believe monsters still exist.
Grandma's, the only place that hasn't changed.
Snowflakes dance from the sky landing in my hair.
It's silent out here.
No cars
No people
No nothing.
It's just me, my hiding place, and all the country land.
It's colder here, than it is back home.
Chattering of my teeth brakes the silence.
I see my 4 year old self again.
Running through the maze.
Hurdling the gnomes and flower pots.
Riding on the tractor in Grandpa's lap.
I was free there.
No worries.
No stress.
Not a clue what was going on in the world.
