The Place where I Gave my Sister Away
The Place where I Gave my Sister Away
In the magical place
there was a sight I’d never seen before
the blue-green waves
calmly kissed the shore
I was thirteen
Halfway across the country
a scent of salt in the air
the cold water
just brushes my ankles
I was thirteen
On the beaches
where I am happy
I hear them say “I do”
she is no longer mine
I was thirteen
In the raging water
on the peaceful sand
I feel I’ve given my sister away
to a nice young man
I was thirteen
The magical place
where the cold water meets the shore
the happiest day of her life
this place is now so much more
I was thirteen
