The Keyholder
Where the sky touches the sea
There I will be
When you feel lost, frightened, alone
Come to me, I’ll be your home
A rock in a river, parting its way
Whatever the obstacle, whatever the day
There I will be, there I will be
Open your eyes, I will help you see
Shadows and deceit, unavoidable tears
Sickness and danger, unconquerable fears
Running, searching, trying to hide
Here I am, child, right by your side
My words are heavy like eyelids at night
Closing around you, holding you tight
Yet light as air when you travel alone
Stars light the path that you’ve been shone
Only a glimpse, my dear, just a second at most
Seeing is knowing, or so you may boast
Stay young and innocent because youth doesn’t last
Here’s a look to the future, go decipher your past
Oak bears weight but falls apart in fire
So suffers a life governed by ire
This is my advice, listen closely to me
Your world is a lock, I hold the key
