Pasts
Leave the past
Leave it as one would leave a broken homeless man
Lying on the street
Let the bitterness urge you to move on
but hold it far from your heart
Don’t let the pain of yesterday rollover
like cell phone minutes into the coming days
The past only brings a sharp pain
But that is only when you let it
Use the future as a vaccine
Let the future take the place of the past before it can even settle
Remember what IS to come and what CAN be made of it.
Potential is the word to cling to
Not regret
If I were to read this in a coffee shop
Or in a televised press conference
The people who heed my advice would remain the same
There will always be those who fail to remember what I say
And for that, I feel no anger but sorrow for you will never
Never feel the feeling
Of freedom
