poison
I would inject the sound of your voice
right into my system
every time you talked;
you could call it an addiction
so when you left me
I went through withdrawal
that drained me
a million times more
than quitting that white powder
ever would
my parents warned me about drugs
secretly sold on the street corner
but never the poison that could
walk, talk, and steal my heart.
