Shrugging Weight
I look down at the keyboard
underneath my fingertips.
As the spindly legs of my hands
race across the keys.
And I notice my wrists,
I notice my arms.
I notice the bracelets that wrap loosely around.
I notice the freckles,
the scars.
I then look back to how people
decide to view my appearance.
And I look back to how
it used to bother me so.
And my fingers hesitate for one second,
before my shoulders shrug off the weight,
the contempt I felt for myself.
And I become more free.
