Motivation

Motivation is a rush of adrenaline pulsing through your veins. It is an unrealistic mindset telling you that anything is possible. Motivation is a drive to success, a task in mind, a goal that needs to be completed. I will not stop until I complete this task. Motivation is the taste of salt from sweat and a splash of ice-cold water. Motivation ignores a pull in the wrong direction on your shoulder. It ignores the shooting pain in your wrist and tiredness. Motivation channels an Olympic champion ready to take the gold. Motivation is not splurging on McDonalds after practice. It is a crunchy, sweet apple that comes with a boost of energy. Motivation is standing at the edge of a deep blue freshly cleaned mat, with sweaty palms and a racing heart. Motivation is pushing out the whole rest of the world with a swipe of your hand, and is being only completely zoned in on the task at hand. Motivation is not a comfy couch with slippers, hot cocoa and a fuzzy blanket on a rainy day. No. It is tensing in your muscles and narrowing of your eyes. Motivation is passion and drive. Motivation makes a champion. Motivation warms your soul. This motivation does not come from money or a trophy. This motivation comes from that yearn in the pit of your heart. This motivation is pure. It is pure like the waters of Bora Bora. It is pure like the snow coming down on top of the Appalachian mountain. This motivation is not tainted. It is that of a cheetah stalking its prey so that it’s young does not starve to death and get picked apart by vultures. Motivation is an essential component of a winner. It is the last step before breaking through the ribbon at the finish line. Motivation fills the crevices of my skin. It is a shield against all else. It is mine. I use it like the huntsmen uses a bow and arrow. Like a gladiator uses its shield. Motivation sees to it that you’re ready. Ready, I am.
