Anatomy Class
I see you
There you sit
You walk in and slump down into your chair
You don’t even look at me when I smile and say “Hey!”
I haven’t seen you all day
You say “Hey”
You sigh
And you don’t even smile
I ask what’s wrong
You shrug me off and tell me you’re fine
I say alright and turn back to my own desk
The rest of the class slowly filters in
Many people ask what’s wrong
Ask what’s up
Ask if you’re okay
You say nothing
You say you’re fine
Do you think I’m an idiot
Do you think I don’t care
Do you think I can’t relate
Do you think I’m unsympathetic
I’m not an idiot and I can tell something is wrong
I care about you and how you feel
Maybe I can’t relate to what’s going on
But I can be there for you all the same
