The dark waters relentlessly crash against the shore.
We were once so serene.
In constant war, the glistening sand fights back.
We were once so bright.
The shadows ripple across the shifting surface
Yet all of that changed.
The light reflect off the shining grains.
Never to return.
A never ending struggle.
The bright blue ocean shone in your eyes,
So bright and beautiful.
The vast horizon is distant now,
Lost in stormy gray.
The wind howls a mournful dirge.
The salty air mingles with our bittersweet memories.
The tears of the solemn moon twinkle, frozen above,
A reminder of our tragedy.
Searching for what we could have been.
I saw your blissful face in those dark waters.
No matter how far I reached for you,
You never came out.
Hoping for what we should have been.
I saw my bleak face in the shining sand,
Our story locked in my illuminated tears.
Drowning in what we will never be.
I’ve lost you to those dark waters.
All that’s left is the receding sand.
